  • MEET THE FLAMBASSADORS 2017: Cheryl Wilson

    cheryl

    NAME:   Cheryl Wilson

WHERE WILL YOU BE ORGANISING SOCIAL RIDES?

Stockton on Tees FLAB social rides Stockton

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO BE A FLAMBASSADOR?

To spread the FLAB love! There are so many people who need to know about this brand so they themselves can get on their bike & be comfortable in their riding gear - cycling is not just for skinny whippets!

FAVOURITE CAKE AT THE TEA STOP?

I’m afraid I’m more of a toasted teacake girl!!

WHO IS YOUR DREAM CYCLING BUDDY?

As cheesy as it sounds I love to cycle with my husband who is a fellow FLAB!  We can get a bit competitive with each other which is a great motivator for us both...but we’re also are encouraging & supporting to each other. Plus he’s my bike mechanic if I have any bike issues!!

BEST TIP OR PIECE OF CYCLING ADVICE?

Always pack a snack - you never know when or if you’re going to run out of juice (bonk).  I find a handful of jelly beans (or dried fruit & nuts if I’m feeling healthy!) picks me up and give me the energy to finish my ride.

  • MEET THE FLAMBASSADORs 2017: Daniel Hardy

    UnknownNAME: Daniel Hardy

WHERE WILL YOU BE ORGANISING SOCIAL RIDES?

Ipswich, Felixstowe and Stowmarket FLAB Social rides Suffolk

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO BE A FLAMBASSADOR?

To help encourage others to ride as it doesn't matter what shape or size you are. Being a fat lad on a bike and the odd laughter from white van man is better than a fat lad stuck on sofa.

FAVOURITE CAKE AT THE TEA STOP?

Don't normally stop but as the distances are getting longer think a stop will be inevitable on much longer rides and will be ordering either a egg custard tart or a Bakewell tart or even better a nice cold beer.

WHO IS YOUR DREAM CYCLING BUDDY?  The cycle buddy I have is actually really good plus a friend I've known since school so we have a good relationship and banter but if it was a professional I think it would be Bradley Wiggins

BEST TIP OR PIECE OF CYCLING ADVICE?

Just keep at it, I've only been back cycling for 18 months and only started due to work running a cycle 2 work scheme and thought it would save me a few pounds in fuel and help me lose a few pounds around the waist line, both have happened now loving cycling so much so that I only live 2 miles from work but normally takes me 10 -20 miles to get there or home so basically just keep at it.

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO BE A FLAMBASSADOR?

Inclusive ethos that sport and cycling particularly is for every body shape not just anorexic whippet types. Get a second hand bike and some FLAB clobber and get going’ it will change your life.

FAVOURITE CAKE AT THE TEA STOP?

Funny that when I took up proper exercise including cycling and gave up cake I lost over 7 stone in 2016 so, sorry no cake for me, just a look of longing as I watch you eat yours.

WHO IS YOUR DREAM CYCLING BUDDY?

My twin daughters for a bumble about the lanes of Suffolk via the Hot Chocolate shop but Jure Robič is my ultimate cycling super hero.

    J Rayner

    NAME:   Jackie Rayner.

WHERE WILL YOU BE ORGANISING SOCIAL RIDES?

I'll be organising social rides around Bury St. Edmunds FLAB social rides Suffolk

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO BE A FLAMBASSADOR?

I applied to be a FLambassador because I want people to see that you don't have to be skinny to enjoy exercise and improve your health. It's a great way to see the countryside and to make new friends.

FAVOURITE CAKE AT THE TEA STOP?

At tea stops I usually go for a fruit scone with butter and jam with tea or a latte.

WHO IS YOUR DREAM CYCLING BUDDY?   My dream cycling buddy would be Colin Firth.

BEST TIP OR PIECE OF CYCLING ADVICE?

Best bit of cycling advice is learn how to repair a puncture and how to change an inner tube. There's nothing worse than being stranded miles from home. I always carry a spare tube and a puncture repair kit.

    me

    NAME: Dean Nicholson

WHERE WILL YOU BE ORGANISING SOCIAL RIDES?

Lewisham South London FLAB social rides Lewisham

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO BE A FLAMBASSADOR?

I applied purely because I love what Fat Lad does. It allows those of us who enjoy the things in life that are not always good for the figure to feel a part of something. I've always been a big guy, from muscle in my early 20's to the beer gut I have now lol. I got tired of never being able to by a nice cycling jersey that fitted. Then I heard about Fat Lad at the back at boom......job done. I'm a keen cyclist and love to get others involved and if they're scared because of their size? Then I simply tell that if I can do it then so can they.

FAVOURITE CAKE AT THE TEA STOP?   Anything Cheese cake......cheese and cake.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

WHO IS YOUR DREAM CYCLING BUDDY?   Shannon Ford Smith or my best bro Kenny Moore.

BEST TIP OR PIECE OF CYCLING ADVICE?    Don't be intimidated by the road you cycle along.
